The purpose of life – the elephant in the woods

A headline caught my eye this morning: Walker killed by circus elephant.
It turns out,
during his routinely morning walk,
following the local trails,
the man got trampled
by an elephant.

Baby, 34 years old,
a circus elephant by trade,
ran away from home.
For unknown reasons, yet.

A tragic,
though unlikely event.
Two creatures crossing paths,
destined to meet in the morning forest.

A man 65 years of age,
lived a life; school boy, husband, father, granddad…
A path started decades ago,
Leading to a crushing death.

Mysteries – the lives we live.
